Psychotherapy and Counselling

Session Information

I understand that taking the step to seek therapy can be challenging, and this space is dedicated to addressing any worries or uncertainties and expectations you may have about the therapeutic process. Our first meeting serves as an opportunity to provide clarity and establish a therapeutic contract. It is also a space to establish what I offer in more detail. To see if we can work together, and whether I could be the right therapist for you. I offer a 15-minute free online call

Co-created space - Your questions and concerns are encouraged, prioritising your comfort. We will collaboratively establish a framework for our work together. This will also include any reasonable adjustments you require. This session also gathers information about your life, past therapies, and goals. Expectations, goals and previous therapeutic experiences will be discussed.

During this initial session, we will cover essential topics, including:

  • Confidentiality: I will assure you that what you share remains strictly private unless there is an immediate risk of serious harm to yourself or others.

  • Fees and Availability: We will discuss session fees, availability, and scheduling to ensure that you have a clear understanding of the practical aspects of therapy.

  • Commitment to Therapy: We will explore the commitment required for successful therapy, establishing mutual expectations and goals.

This comprehensive contracting process fosters confidence in your therapeutic journey and ensures professionalism in addressing your therapeutic needs.

My Approach

My work is grounded in a relational and existential approach, placing the therapeutic relationship at the centre of the process. Therapy is a space we enter together — a real, human relationship in which moments of connection, misunderstanding, frustration, or repair are parts of the work itself. I believe change happens through being with one another honestly and attentively over time.

I work existentially, meaning I am interested in how you experience your life: your values, beliefs, conflicts, hopes, and suffering. We may explore themes such as freedom and responsibility, uncertainty and control, meaning and meaninglessness, connection and separateness, continuity and change. Rather than offering answers, I aim to create space for reflection, expression and unveiling, supporting you to make sense of your experience in your own way. If you would like some more info on existentialism/existentialists, I find these articles useful!

I hold freedom and autonomy at the forefront of therapy. This is your space. I may offer reflections or suggestions where they feel helpful, but the choice ultimately is yours on how you wish to use the space. For me, this means resisting the all too human flaw of wanting to fix, diagnose, or interpret too quickly. I see therapy as a process of revealing or uncovering, allowing something new to emerge rather than forcing solutions.

I also draw on transpersonal and creative elements, seeing therapy as a deeply human — and spiritual — process. Coming to therapy requires courage: it involves entering uncertainty, vulnerability, and the unknown. I value play, creativity, and self-expression, and I encourage clients to express themselves in ways that feel meaningful to them.

I pay close attention to the body, recognising that therapy is often less about “feeling better” and more about feeling more. We may explore embodiment, regulation, and how you relate to your physical experience. It is easy to lose touch or avoid our bodily experience. I would hope to try and enable clients to re-engage with bodily experience, as I believe it’s the way in which we engage with the world.

I have experience working with gender, sexuality, and identity, including with young men navigating constraining gender norms. With all clients, I welcome exploration of identity in its many forms — including gender, sexuality, race, and class — while holding both personal agency and the real social conditions that shape our lives.

In simple terms, I see therapy as a weekly, focused space where I stand alongside you — committed, present, and engaged. I cannot promise outcomes, but I can offer my honesty, care, and belief in the value of trying, together.
